Pattern No. 5 - Not Even A Mouse
This ongoing 'Twas the Night pattern series is inspired by Clement C. Moore's 1823 poem, A Visit From St. Nicholas (more commonly known as The Night Before Christmas). This is the fifth pattern in the series and more will follow.
This detailed, intermediate level sewing/crafting pattern shows you how to make colorful, embroidered, wool felt mouse-in-a-teacup ornaments with removable mouse and Teddy. Create a Christmas Eve tradition of tucking the sleepy mouse in with his Teddy to wait for a visit from St. Nicholas. The vintage look is perfect for your Christmas tree or for special handmade gifting. This ornament is sewn entirely by hand. Choose your own colors, or follow my pre-chosen colors of felt and floss (https://mmmcrafts.blogspot.com/p/twas-night-ornament-series.html).

HOW HARD ARE THESE TO MAKE? I'm often told my sewing patterns are more like a craft class on paper! I give very detailed instructions so you aren't left wondering. While this is not a beginner's sewing project, it is probably easier than you think! If you can do precision cutting of small pieces, sew basic hand stitches well (running stitch, whipstitch, French knot, and backstitch), work with seed beads and sequins, glue things with precision, and are familiar with basic sewing and embroidery terms, then you can make this project and make it well!
HERE'S WHY: this pattern utilizes a Sulky Stick 'n Stitch, which makes putting the ornament together efficient, fast and accurate. The design prints or copies directly on the stabilizer, which is then adhered to the felt or card stock, and you embroider/bead right on top of it! NO TEDIOUS PATTERN TRACING OR EMBROIDERY TRANSFER. Fantastic! (If you can't use the Sulky stabilizer, I've also included tips for that.)
Materials used to make these ornaments include: wool or wool-blend felts, Pellon 70 Peltex, cotton pipe cleaners, glue, embroidery floss, seed beads, sequins, stuffing and Sulky Stick 'n Stitch. A complete list of materials is in the photo of the pattern page above. Zoom in to read through it.
This pattern is in PDF format on 8.5 x 11 inch paper, so you can print it from your regular printer at home on standard paper and printable stabilizer, as many times as you need for personal use.
